Sofia is an intuitive abstract painter based in Richmond, VA. For all her life she’s been inspired by improvisation, the ocean, and the art of “making things up.” Raised on the coast, surrounded by music and visual arts in Gloucester, MA, home to one of the oldest art colonies in the United States. It was here that she was first exposed to artistic individuals living freely and authentically.
Her work has been exhibited locally in Richmond, VA at Bond Millen Art Gallery, Artspace and Artworks RVA.

Her paintings are a reflection of life and living in imperfect connection with spirit. Her work explores themes related to psychosis and spirituality, and center on the idea of embracing the unknown.
Artist Statement
My work is a way to bring myself and others into light and love. Through the process of layering acrylic paint, oil pastel and mixed media an unexpected scene begins to grow. It is through the art of intuition, improvisation and surrender that we may better understand the darks and lights of life.
